Inspiration and Gratitude

If I had limitless funds and mouths to feed, I would bake every day. There is so much joy in it for me. And writing this blog is helping me share that joy with others.

I just watched "Julie and Julia" for the first time. I was enchanted by the movie. I even cried at the end of it. I found Julie Powell's actual blog online and I'm going to start reading it. I also realized that maybe not every post on here has to have pictures and recipes. Maybe it can also be about my adventures, or sharing interesting sites and things I learn along the way. Or about something I have in a restaurant or saw on TV and decided I need to make in the future.

I feel inspired right now. While watching the movie, I was trying to figure out how to make my blog more reader-friendly and easy to access/search. I'm new to all of this, so if you have any suggestions, I'd be grateful. I'm also trying to figure out how to get readers; you know, spread the word. As of this moment in time, I have 931 friends on Facebook. Everytime I bake something new, I post a new entry and update my Facebook status with the web address for my blog. I know that not everyone will click on my link, but can you imagine if they did? My stats would be through the roof!

I am so grateful for everyone who reads this blog. I have 12 official followers. Thank you to all of you. You make me happy. :) What is crazier at the moment are the international pageviews. People have viewed my blog in Canada, Germany, Ireland, the Domincan Republic, Japan, Mexico, and the Netherlands. Whoever you are, thank you. I appreciate the support.

Anyway, there is another blog about an actual recipe on the way. I baked yesterday afternoon, but watched "Julie and Julia" this morning instead of blogging.  Until then, I'm off to do some serious Christmas cookie baking with my Aunt Jen. I'm very excited for this day. Perhaps there will be a blog in here about it too...

Until next time...

  1. I like the idea of posting about adventures (hopefully food related), maybe like going to a cooking class or farmer's market finds. And I can't actually follow any of your recipes since I can't eat gluten now so I enjoy the narrative (and pictures!) in your blog.

  2. I didn't realize you were Gluten Free! I guess I'll have to make some G-Free desserts for you then! :) You are a faithful reader, it's the least I could do!

  3. I am gluten free indeed. I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease about a year and a half ago. The closest thing I've done to baking is use the Betty Crocker gluten free mixes, but I think I will try out this flourless cake recipe.
