Here's the thing...if you read the blog around this time last year, you would know that I made a lot of pies (4 total) for Thanksgiving. One of them was this decadent treat. :) Now, since the recipe is already posted, I'm not going to give it out again. However, I thought it was important to tell you all about this year's pie making adventure because I actually remembered the milk chocolate layer! Last year I forgot about it, so it was really only a Double Chocolate Pumpkin Pie.
So, this milk chocolate drizzle. It is supposed to be 1 ounce of milk chocolate, melted, and drizzled on top. Can I just tell you how hard it is to get milk chocolate to drizzle. Well hold on, the recipe says to drizzle just before serving. Since I made this pie for a Thanksgiving Potluck at work today, I had to do it at work, thus lacking my array of kitchen tools. I had a bowl, a spoon, and some milk chocolate chips. I microwaved the chocolate chips in the bowl to melt them. When they were smooth and creamy, I dipped my spoon in the bowl and tried to drizzle.
Glop.
That's what the chocolate sounded like when it hit the pie. My coworker Kristen and I stared at the blob and wondered how to fix it. Luckily, I brought more that 1 ounce of milk chocolate chips (2.5 if we're getting technical) to work, so I was able to do a layer of milk chocolate on top. Win. It was a great idea and so delicious. Next time I will come armed with my frosting knife so it is a truly smooth layer, but I don't think anyone minded one bit.
May not be a smooth milk chocolate layer, but it is delicious! |
So incredible. The best part might be the crust...so happy about leftovers! |
If you are in need of a tasty, rich, decadent, unique dessert for your table this year, I highly recommend the Triple Chocolate Pumpkin Pie!!

OOOO - This reminds me of the Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie my mom makes. Using pumpin is such a fantastic idea! What a great way to make it seasonally appropriate. I wonder how it would taste with a scoop of pumpkin ice cream? I'm guessing pumpin amazing. Yes, I did just make up that saying.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what else you have in store for the season!
